Air bag light reset

Within the last 6 months I have replaced the button controls on the steering wheel ( cruise control) for they had dry rotted. A couple weeks ago the Air Bag Light has came on....It blinks once...then a pause...then two blinks. Again this is a 97 Explorer 2 wheel drive xlt overhead cam? I think.

I also have replaced myself front ball joints (that Ford doesn't have grease fittings for???) squeak squeak over ever speed bump!!! And sway bar links that the bushings had crumbled.

It is a shame that they no longer add grease fittings, but considering how most shops grease a car it's probably for the best. What I mean is that every quick oil change shop I have ever seen, takes the grease gun puts it on the fitting and starts pumping fresh grease without ever cleaning off the grease zerk first. What they accomplish is pumping a load of grit into the joint.

So what's worse... A joint filled with fresh grease along with a load of grit? Or a "lifetime" sealed component? Probably turns out the same either way:dunno:

Welcome to the forum:chug: Hopefully we can help keep your Explorer on the road.

That is airbag code 12, Unfortunately, I am not colocated with my shop manual so can't tell you what that code indicates. Try asking Mr. Google something like "Ford airbag code 12" and see what he says. Good luck.

Isn't code 12 a blown fuse? Buddy of mines 94 F-150 had code 12. Just replaced the fuse.

12 means "low battery voltage", I'd check the connectors for corrosion and ground connections.

edit: forgot to mention this message has nothing to do with your car battery

Thanks to all replys!!!!!! I will check out each this weekend and post back.
