Just recently my trip odometer on my 02 ex has been randomly resetting itself to zero miles. I first noticed it when I disconnected my battery to do a check-up on my K&N intake. Obviously when I started back up, the odometer was at zero. After a couple drives to and from work, it seemed mush lower than I thought it would be. Didn't think much of it then. A couple days later I started it up and was driving to work and I noticed it was at 6.1 miles. Impossible! When I got to work I turned the ex completely off, then back on, but the mileage held.

The only thing I could possibly think of is that we have been in constant below freezing temps for the past week or two and that might have a negative effect on the battery, which isn't exactly new (plus it sits outside at night). But all other electrical systems have been working fine. Plus, the clock and all radio presets haven't been affected as if the battery had failed/been disconnected.

Anyone else ever had this problem/know anything about how to fix it?

Check you battery terminals. Make sure they are clean and tight. Also check the cables. Make sure they are in good condition.

Can you change from the odometer to the tripometer?
Does the mileage update as you are driving?
Does the Outside Temp change as it should?
Does the compass update as your direction changes?

If not, you might have have the infamous problem with the LED display.

I recently fixed mine using these 2 threads:

Check out this thread for the repair: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums//showthread.php?p=2552800

Check out this thread for removal of the instrument cluster: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=218636

Hope this helps out & good luck with the fix. :biggthump
