Just a quick question. I have a 99 Explorer Eddie Bauer and I can't keep it running at idle. Whenever I let off on the gas it stalls. Every now and then it use to be hard to start. Would take a couple of cranks to get it going. Now it just doesn't run without constantly giving it gas. Any help is much appreciated..

is it the 4.0L V6 SOHC?
If it is there was a cam shaft chain tensioner recall search for it on here there have been lots of posts.

Check the Idle Air Control Valve, located on top of the engine on the upper intake manifold. It's probably stuck closed. Remove, clean with O2 sensor-friendly carb/throttle body cleaner, then reinstall. Should fix you up.

Hmmmm.... Seems to be a real commaon problem. It happened to me too but it cleared itself up after a while and $65.00 later at the dealer for 2 days. Of course when I got the the dealer the symptom went away!!!! They couldn't get any codes or anything. I never found out what is was.

See other post above.

’95 loaded XLT 4.0 4x4 120K

This form is great. I have had major problems with the truck dieing at low idle when hot for last 10K. Dealer replaced a $1000.00 fuel injector controller and still the truck stalled. Read several posting here and found the following links about the Idle Air Control Valve. Over the weekend I removed and flushed the IACV with carb cleaner. Chunks of black crud came out(cool hun). No low idle problems any more! I hope this helps others.

Good info to know. I haven't had any problems with this vehicle since then. (knock on wood) I have 76k miles on it now.

Question,,what is involved with the 75k mile tune up. I know it's in my owner's manual but it's not in front of me now.
