Truckhaven 2002 Discussion

I'll definately be camping, well sleeping in the back of the Explorer. Is there any better way!!!! I'll be pretty stoked if I can say I'll be camping as a couple since I'm single right now.

Camping is the way to go. Save $$ to spend on the truck.

Who wants to drive back to a hotel after drinking beer by the campfire?

Who wants to do brodies after a few beers??:nono:

That is not funny!!!!

Hey, we all make our mistakes and learn from them, now leave me alone.

"Hey, we all make our mistakes and learn from them, now leave me alone."

Did I mention any names...

LMFAO....

Some will be remembered for throwing lawn chairs into the flames others... well....

Joe; I never stop lifted Explorers unless I want to see what mods they have done (its legal, of course, there is always something to stop a lifted truck for), so don't worry about it. If I do see you, you will know, I'll make an exception and pull you over just for fun.

Can't talk about anything else going on since Tuesday, cause the F*I will come knock on my door. I would like to strongly suggest that no one goes to any large events for the next several months. What I can state without doubt, is that we WILL prevail.

As for camping out; I would not consider doing anything else. Nothing is as much fun as sitting around a camp fire, knowing you don't have to move more than a few yards, after a hard day wheelin. This year, I'll bring 2 bottles of that rum I get from Brazil. Char, you don't need to get a cold this time, you can have as much as you want.

I hope Rick's bringing extra chairs for himself, and Kevin can bring an extra door panel or two.

WOOD: Everybody needs to try to bring some, no matter how little. I can bring some huge logs out, but don't have much small stuff.

I will be camping out as well. It looks like I have a friends wedding to go to saturday in fresno then after the wedding drive strait to the salton sea. Probably get in late sat night maybe catch you guys for the night run. if not the sunday run for sure.

What ever you do don't let RangerX lead the night run. I heard he likes t drive off cliffs:D

Matt

Geeeeeezzzz! :o I guess we all have our moments to NOT BRING UP!;) Trail leaders should not be seen being pulled backwards by a tow strap! At least now I have rock lights!

I guess after hearing these rumors and stories it wouldn't be P.C. for me to be on my best behavior the whole weekend.

Well alright, Camping it is!
Sounds great, I am looking forward to meeting all of you and having a great weekend doing my third favorite activity. You will have to guess on what my first two favorite activities are ;)

As for sleeping in the back of the Ex. Not for me, 6'6" is not enough room for me since I am exactly 6'6" I will be putting up the "Hammer portable Cabin"
Included in this cabin is 2 bedrooms a porch and tent heaters. We also have a king size air matress and -10 degree sleeping bags.

Told you we were rough :)

Hey we dont need no stinking port-o-pottie!

Last time I was at truckhaven was last Feb. and we had 150+ people in our group. We cooked a 100+lb pig, a 50lb piece of beef, and 2 turkeys all in a pit under ground accompanied by a pot luck. We actually had a port-a-pottie hauled in because there was only a hand full with motorhomes or something beyond tents. We had organized 4wd runs, dirt bike rides, buggy runs, one guy brought out a cannon that shot 8lb lead balls like off a pirate ship, potato gun target competitions, and even a 15' high movie screen with a projector and watched videos at night like Jurasic park and dirt bike videos running off a generator on the back side of a hill with a REALLY long extension cord. The best part is my family and another family were the last ones to leave and it only took maybe 10 minutes for us to pick up any remaining trash left by those that had already left. The area was spotless and except from the turned up dirt from the HUGE hole that we filled in where we cooked the meat you couldn't tell there was a small town there for a weekend.

Khris, you must of found a soft spot that you could dig a hole that big. Rick & I were talking about doing something like that, but after our experience in trying to set some rebar stakes in the ground one year it was almost impossible to do that, we decided to not go for that idea. But maybe we could still do it. Something to think about.

We've done it for 4 years in a row now and always head back to the same place. I could probably show you guys right where we've dug the pit. It's up against the hillside and with that many people there a lot of peple chip in to make the digging fairly easy. The area we do it in sounds REALLY close to where we will be meeting for the group trip.

I have a feeling Sat is out for me Have a wedding to go to in fresno. Is anyone going to be out wheeling Friday? I am thinking I can do a run friday during the day, head out that evening drive to frsno go to the wedding then drive back down sat night camp and wheel sunday with everyone.

So who is up for wheeling Friday.

Matt

Matt, I and a few others will probably be out there on Friday, so yea we can do a run.

Hey, is it okay if us Sport Trac folks show up also? We are, after all, technically Explorers too. I went ahead and posted a link to this thread over on our Sport Trac site. Hopefully a few of the Southern California owners will sign up. I still have to check on availability, but I definitely want to make the trip down from Sacramento. Hopefully by that time, the 4" Superlift for the Sport Trac will be out (and on my truck!).

Of course you guys can join us :D After all Ford brought their Sport Trac to play with us at Truckhaven before they ever released it to the public :D

I thought I'd bring this back to the top by asking if anyone knows how long it takes to get there from Denver. I'll probably be there regardless, but I was just curious...
