I went under the good old x today (97 awd v8) to do a TT. I was pleasantly suprised that the bolt turned with only a fair amount of elbow grease. I measured from the ground to the wheel well, cranked the bolt around 3 times... no difference. Cranked around 3 more times, no difference. I must have cranked that bolt around 10 times and there wasnt a bit of change. On the drivers side, same thing. I cranked the bolt around until I ran out of threads and there was no difference. Do I need longer bolts the (the 100mm ones) or what. I thought it was going to be pretty straight forward, and now im worried it wont be. Second question is if I put bigger tires on (from 235 75 r15 to 31x10.5) do I need to get an alignment, or do I only need an alignment if I lift it. Thanks in advance for any help

Go drive around the block a couple of times, park in the same spot, and measure again.

did you jack the front end up when you did that? if not, the suspension will need to cycle to sit at the new ride-height.
even if you did jack it up first, may still need to cycle it

ohhhhh. I didn't realize that. I will give that a try and report back. I appreciate it guys!

may end up loosening the bolts up some.. cuz 10 turns is quite a lot.. but then again, my bolts are almost maxed out and I don't think I got quite 1.5"... might make a bit of a difference when I finally replace my adjuster keys

Your front tires are now toed WAY in if you got 1.5 inches of lift, and you are going to wear the outside edge off very quickly. If you are gonna leave it there, you need an alignment to save the tires

I only need to lift the front about 1/2 inch so I'm not worried about the cv joints or anything. i know i'll have to get an alignment, but thats not a problem. I'm doing the tt tommorrow because thats when I'm getting my new 31x10.5 pirelli scorpions put on!!!

yup... still haven't gotten that done, and it's been ohhh.. a year'ish or so, haha.
tires actually aren't wearing as bad as I would think... it's noticeable, but to a very small extent. Prolly just the tires or something... but gonna wait 'til I get my shackles and replace the keys before I get an alignment
