Tuning a 4.0L V6 SOHC

First and foremost, sorry if this isn't the right forum, but I assume more people in the modified section will be more knowledgeable about this sort of stuff.

I have what is currently OEM all around, but I'm looking to get into modifying it. I don't know exactly what I want out of it just yet, but I want to learn - that's just how I am. I don't care if it takes me an unreasonable amount of time and effort to do this. After all, it's more fulfilling when you gotta struggle a little in your journey.

I've attempted to do as much research as I can in the limited amount of time I've had available, and I figure it wouldn't hurt to at least ask for pointers on how to continue to problem-solve.

The problem with my PCM is that there's not an xdf or bin available online as far as I can see, and I also kind of want to learn how to do this stuff myself. I'm wondering if there's a program I'm just ignorant of to be able to scrape data from the PCM if that's even possible, and pull up the tables on tunerpro to modify like that. I'm not super literate in machine programming, but I wouldn't consider myself illiterate.

I want to figure out how to best go ahead and get my PCM data on my laptop so I can start messing around with things and poke and prod.

Search for a tuner and software you can afford and work with. You may need to change your EEC to something that is supported. There is not much to gain other than some transmission tuning on a stock rig. There is much to screw-up if not cautious.

I agree not much to tune on a stock engine and drivetrain other then the shift points for the transmission

Now when you supercharge that sohc, well now that is a different story, quite a popular mod for the sohc engine since it was used in the mustang. At this point it is the transmission I would be worried about

The factory pcm can accommodate most mild breathing mods without the need for any tuning
