U joint hell---p

Sorry for posting a new thread--but I need to know-

I'm replacing rear u joints on my Mounty--it has an expedition driveshaft

I have the joints pounded out, and a cap has pooped out which is good-
Please don't tell me I need to push the u-joint back all the way the other direction to get the other cap off--say it isn't so--
 






yup. thats how ya do it. use a nice deep socket that will fit over the end and in the hole and it should be easy. good luck
 






Yes, I agree. I have not done joints in about 20 years, mine are likely do also. Good pieces of wood and sockets are the key tools, plus a baby sledge.

Don, I hope this fixes my "r to d" clunk

I did find a loose bolt on the rear drive flange--Now who coulda done that?:confused:
