I am going to be replacing all the front u-joints next weekend and wonder if there are some real good ones to buy that will stand up to some abuse?

What do you guys reccomend??

I bought the brute force ones from autozone and the are holding up great 3 years plus.Have fun with those:D

I remember someone mentioning using high strength u-joints in a jeep so I thought there might be some specialty ones out there. Anything like a greaseable joint.....just curious.

You don't want any greasable u-joint in the front axles. They are hollow and weak! I believe the X uses Spicer 297 u-joints. If so there is a stronger u-joint (developed for the new Jeep Rubicon) that is a direct replacement for the 297. The 5-760X is what you want. They may be hard to find so try: www.highangledriveline.com

NOTE: I am not 100% positive that the X uses the 297. You ay want to have someone else confirm this before you drop $20 a pop for he wrong u-joints.

If the X doesn't use the 297, I recomend NAPA high strength u-joints (they come in a yellow and black package).

The Brute force ones from auto zone are non grease able and very heavy duty 15.99 a piece at autozone:D

U-joint removal Question

I am replacing my front axle u-joints as well. I have removed the 4 c-clips. The manual (haynes) doesn't say it, but don't you have to remove covers/weight things? I am unsure what to call them but I imagine they must be removed before pressing out the bearings correct?
