u joints, what are they and how do they work, do they both work at the same time in 2 wheel, im confused, explain all, i know how to check is they are broken but explain all knowledge that you have

U joints are used most often on driveshafts and some solid axles (mostly front axles).

The short version:

U joints allow the driveshaft to transmit torque while allowing the axle(s) to move up and down relative to the rest of the drivetrain.
 






Shorter version: Allows different angles of rotational spin between two objects.

they make your car move until they break is what they do and you check them by reving up to about 5000 rpm's then shift into drive and floor it and if you move they are good
