Ultragauge vs Scangauge?

I'm considering purchasing one of these, mostly as a diagnostic tool. Opinions on which is better?

I have an Ultragauge. Its pretty cool if you are really into getting the operational info on your vehicle. I use it for Oil Distance to Change (settable in 1500 mile increments, I think), Gas Distance to Empty (make sure you reset it at every refill), Avg MPH, Immediate MPG, and a few others I can't think of right now. They are MANY different parameters it can report on. And it can read and reset all OBD-II codes, but not trans codes. All in all a pretty cool doo-dad, but you could probably live without it. The Support page on ultragauge.com has the manual you can download for free, fyi.

Thanks Chef. I was leaning toward the UltraGauge (based on cost) the functionality looks very similar to the ScanGauge. Most of my trucks have the message center, but the UltraGauge offers additional reporting parameters. I have a OBD II scanner, but it's mostly just for reading/resetting codes.

I also have an Ultra Gauge. I got it in 2011.

I use it on our 2000 Civic. It's a manual trans so I didn't worry about not having transmission temps on it.

On screen 1 (where I leave it almost all the time) I have Instant and avg. MPG, 02 sensor values, Fuel Level and Distance to Empty...

Screen 2 is the one with temps etc..

I also like using it for the oil service reminders. I have it set for 7000 miles so I can change it somewhere between 7k & 9k.

It had held up much better than I expected. I've seen the Ultragauge indicate over 170F more than a few times and a few times it was so hot the screen was completely white. Cabin temps really climb when its 105+ outside, even with a windshield screen up.

The only thing I've had an issue with was the mount. This last Summer the suction cup thing started to have issues, so I ordered a new suction mount for it.

It is nice to be able to clear that p0420 code I get once every 3 months or so. I usually do it while at a red light.. Heck, I could probably do it driving but I probably shouldn't.

My dad got one too and uses it in his newer Ford Escape. He is primarily using it for the Fuel (DTE and level) and MPG.
