Yesterday I had to get some film developed for work, well there were a few pics left on the camera so I got a couple shots...

This one shows my 93 OHV 4.0L under the hood of my 88 BII. You can see the KKM, 95 intake tube, blue top optima mounted where the airbox was, the Granatelli MAS, BBK, throttle body, taylor wires, and the Explorer coolant resevoir. This isnt the best picture, I need to get up on a ladder.

Oh and winter is here! Snowing here in Denver for last 3-4 days! I wish it would DUMP!!!

You can see the additional 2" of lift and the Skyjacker radius arms in this recent pic of my truck, sorry for the ice!!! hehehe too bad you cant see the ARB up front and the 4.10 gears! On board air for the ARB, Autofab front glass and 33's are next.....OH and dont forget the WWW.EXPLORER4x4.com sticker!!!!

Working on it.....damn geocities.......

working now....bumpity

Try cutting and pasting into your URL bar....

I am rebuilding my website this winter and I will be hosting it on a private server so no more of these problems. I will be doing a complete 4.0L conversion and performance section, and possibly a 5.0L conversion section as well. Full write ups on my truck and Joe Deitz's truck will be online...Also possibly Brett's BII and Explorer as well as our future projects.......

Sweet Bronc2. I have always like B2's. A friend of mine owns an 89 EB BII and he's got it modded a little, with a 2.9L bored something like 20-25 over (can't remember) and the intake ported and polished, twin stainless dual exhaust. He has thought about dropping a 4.0 in it since he has about 150,000+ on his setup now. Do Bronc2's use the A4LD, or is it a C5...did you put an A4LD in yours when you did the swap?

As far as my truck is concerned, I have thought about putting a 95 intake tube in there, to get the air intake as far from the engine as possible. I was going to move the battery to the driver's side though, and use a smaller windshield washer fluid reservoir. Do you have problems with shortened battery life from the heat where you have your batt? Or is that not a problem?

Rhett, not a problem, of course it is an Optima marine duty, so since its a dry cell battery I dont think heat affects it.

I too modded my 2.9L and ran it until I had 180K on her. I loved that little engine, until I dropped in the 4.0L, then it's like 2.9L what???

I originally did the 4.0L conversion when my stock tranny (mitsu 5 speed) was about to bite the dust. The 4.0L was just a bonus on top of the tranny. Since then I have gone through 3 Mazda 5 speeds (live and learn, cheapo rebuilds) and finally did it right and hada custom A4LD built and converted my truck from 5 speed to auto about months ago.... Loving it!!!

I would recommend the 4.0L conversion to anybody with a high mileage 2.9L, the swap can be done in a weekend if you can do the wiring.

Also my truck is mostly Explorer now, the BII body, frame, and dash are all thats original for the most part....everything else is custom and rebuilt.
She just hit 235K miles and is better then ever!!!

I've got a lot more to do....next year it's removeable windows, full interior cage, bent beams, and some serious suspension mods.....

Did you have to get a wiring harness (computer etc) from a 93 Explorer to do that?

Rhett the entire wiring harness is swapped in from a 93 Explorer, the EEC (I am on my fourth EEC now) and power distribution box were used as well. The Explorer harness was modified to match up to my truck.
If you hook the truck up to a Ford diagnostics scanner it thinks it is a 93 Explorer with an A4LD.

Everything works perfect, all diagnostics, cruise control, etc....I have built several 2.9L to ohv 4.0L wiring harness', heck I have built my wiring harness 4 times I think! It is totally custom, I even have the fuses and relays for my aux lights, stereo, etc.. built into the power distribution box.

Contact me if you know somebody who wants to do the 4.0L conversion.....there are a few tricks we have learned along the way to make it easier.....like using the alternator from a 91 4.0l Aerostar and the fuel line from a 4 banger Ranger can help make this a "plug and play"conversion. I could do the 2.9L to 4.0L conversion in a weekend I bet......

Bumpity. :)

new pics coming soon with glass up front and 33's
