2016 Explorer Sport
Hello all. I did a search but can't find any help. I just purchased a 16 Explorer Sport. Im trying to update the SYNC system but Im having some issues. When i download and unzip the file, I'm getting a bunch of files (cab, zip). I don't know what files to put on the USB drive. I saw on the Ford website it shows an install file and a SyncMyRide folder. I don't have that. Ideas? Its driving me nuts.

Hi bigwex,

Which system do you have: owner.ford.com/how-tos/sync-technology/all/get-started-with-sync/how-to-identify-your-sync-version.html?model

Also, are you using an Apple or Windows computer? Let me know, and I'll assist.

When was your Sport produced? 3.8 has been out since Sept...unless it is used or been sitting on the lot a long time it shouldn't need an update.

It sounds like you are using a Mac....use a windows computer or you have to reorganize everything. All but the autoinstall file belongs in the syncmyride folder.

It is a used 2016 with the voice navigation. I just checked the version and not sure if I'm looking at the correct one but its showing 3.62.5? I will have to wait and find someone with a PC then. I tried to make the USB have the 3 files needed but still a no go. Need to update my Fusion as well.

That was the previous version. You are correct that you should update to 3.8. Sorry, no experience with a Mac.
Here is a post from another thread; http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3041233&postcount=38
Good luck.

Well after downloading five different unzipp programs I finally got it to open to the SyncMyFord file. Then got the update applied. Thanks everyone for the help!

Glad it worked, bigwex! I assumed you had a Mac, but I needed to make sure before I provided the answer. For some reason, Apple's default extraction program (Archive Utility) doesn't unzip the files correctly. Using a different program was the correct route to take. Let me know if need additional SYNC assistance in the future. :)
