I went to harry's u-pull it in hazleton PA today and i got a borg warner 1354 t-case for 50 bucks! My current t-case slips so im gonna swap this one in to my truck and hopefully convert it over from automatic to manual shift. Ive got a 96 so im guessing im gonna need a switch to engage the front hubs since im not gonna have the automatic shift any more. Im gonna take the t-case apart tonight to check it out. When i played with it at the scrap yard every thing ran pretty smoothly and it didnt make much noise. I shifted it into low range and it seemed to work. Any ideas on what i should check when i take it apart? I dont think Im gonna have any problems taking it apart i dont think anything is gonna fall out.

Sorry to say, but I'm pretty sure that the 13-54 manual and 13-54 electric t-cases are two separate beasts. So unless you've got something up your sleeve to make the electric one manual. . .:(

Great price though

In case something "falls out:"

Damn I was hoping i could adapt it to manual use. I got a friend who's a machinest so anythings possible. :) Im sure there is some way to make an electric case lever operated. It most likely is an electric t-case i found it next to a first gen explorer. Ill look at my buddy's ranger which has a manual t-case any maybe ill be able to come up with something.

I was looking at my new t-case and i definantly think its gonna need to be rebuilt. The shaft seals are rusted and I wouldnt be suprised if there is some rust internally. I currently have a 4405-07 t-case in my truck Im wondering what the difference is between that and the new one that i got which is a 1354-05. I know my current one has the auto 4wd and the new one i got has the 4hi. Is that the only difference between the two? Im wondering if one of them has a higher gear ratio.

Yeah Doug, Jefe was right they are different. We had another big discussion about that with buchvilleman a while back. But heck for 50 bucks, you could put some new seals and bearings in it and clean it up and sell it for 100 i'd think. Good find.

Happy trails!!
