V8 to V6 conversion? RWD to 4WD??

I have a 1998 Eddie Bauer edition Ford Explorer. It is RWD with a V8.

I was curious how much work would be involved with replacing the V8 with a V6. Also a rough estimate of cost would be helpful if possible.

My second question is; is it possible to make the V6 4WD with the car originally being RWD.

I don't know too much about cars in general so any help is much appreciated.

Why would you want to go to a V6?

Yes you could find a donor vehicle and swap all the parts but if paying someone to do it, which seems like a prudent move considering you state you don't know too much about cars, then your cost including time/labor is likely to be close to if not exceeding the value of the vehicle, especially one in Pittsburgh which probably has a fair amount of body rust by now unless they don't salt the roads there.

For this reason I feel you are better off selling it and buying one with V6 & 4WD.
