New to this transmission repair. Had reverse but drive was taking a long time to engage. Then drive was lost after I used passing gear. Stopped at a store and leaving it would not go into drive at all. Kept backing around in the parking lot, trying everything. Tried lower gears, taking it out of OD, waiting wait and then it went in. Great. Made it home, about 10 miles. It worked fine until I got home, lucky me .Took it out of drive. Still had reverse. Backed around and got it in place to do the job. From everything I have read, the problem may be with the valve body. The gasket looked good except in one area a piece was missing, comparing it to a new one. Decided to replace with an upgraded valve body. Put it in and problem is worse, no reverse or drive. Removed and returning it for another one, good grief. Could be me. I have the manuals for it and was pretty sure I did it right. While I am waiting I am going to put new gaskets on the old one and try it out. Lot of work and mess. This time replacing the valve body I decided to replace the seals that I can get to.
? Question : The reverse servo has 2 o-rings large one and small one.I have found and the cover plate was a hard plastic gasket. The only thing I found was a regular gasket. Do I reuse this plastic one or should I replace it with a regular gasket while I have it out? Thanks for your suggestions.
