I see these aftermarket modules that supposedly increase your horsepower/performance.
What are your experiences with these items and are they worth it?

Thnaks in advance for your replys

Can you be more specific about what "aftermarket modules " are? Do you mean chips? Programmers? Or the e bay scams?

One thing to remember for such a purchase is "you get what you pay for". Get a SCT based chip/flasher and you won't go wrong.

Well....

Most recently I've seen stuff on ebay , these little boxes that connect to your computer and goose the performance a bit. Of course they look like little homebrew projects but some appear 'legitimate'
Conceptually do these things do what they are advertised to do.
simple as a replacement chip, or something that reprograms the computer?

Sorry for the lack of info

Adam

Lots of members on here have "chips" or have reprogrammed their trucks to allow for severeal things, including tranny shift changes, more horsepower, more torque and/or more fuel efficiency. Do a search for chips or SCT. I have an older Apten chip, so I'm sure that others here can fill you in a bit more about the new SCT flashers and newer chips for Explorers. (Not to change the subject, what chip/programmer would you guys recommend for a 03 F250 5.4L?)
