- 2000 Explorer XLT
Hello this is my first post and I've tried finding to see if anyone has had the same issue but i haven't found anything super similar. I have a 2000 explorer with a 5.0 so i think it is a 4r70w transmission. I started getting a vibration when accelerating and thinking that it was something in the front end I replaced the hubs and upper and lower ball joints on both sides and the vibration is definitely better however still present. It starts as soon as I get into 2nd gear and stays into 3rd and goes away in 4th unless I have to accelerate then its present in 4th. Since it seems to be related to what gear its in I am suspecting something with the transmission but have no idea what. I changed the fluid and filter with no real change. Does anyone know what it could be that I might be overlooking. I'm willing to do any work on it up to replacing the transmission. If I have to end up pulling the trans I'd probably just look into swapping a M5OD in its place. Any help is greatly appreciated
