Walker Muffler $40 Rebate

I just ordered a Walker muffler from Rock Auto and got a form from Walker for a $40 rebate.

Considering one of the mufflers (which fits our years of Explorer) is a close out for less than $40, it's a helluva deal for a stock set-up.

The rebates and discounts usually don't apply to the closeout items at RockAuto.


While the Walker mufflers are nice for their lifetime warranty, I'm ditching my Walker Quietflow setup for a Walker Dynomax.

I did a lot of research and found out the internal construction of the Walker Quietflow muffler for 93-94 X's routes most of the exhaust flow through a tiny 1/2 in. hole. Not good.

The Walker Quietflow muffler for 91-92's is more similar to a Thrush Turbo or the Dynomax Super Turbo without the flow directors, and it uses much larger (1.75-2.00 in.)internal tubing.
I'm not sure why the heck they changed the muffler design, but while it's fantastic for sound supression, it sucks for performance and efficiency.

Walker is also offering a $75 rebate on a Dynomax cat-back system.

I'd say that's a better deal since you can get a complete system for a '93 4 door for about half price.

Dynomax Super Turbo

I installed a Dynomax Super Turbo on my 91 Ex over 100k ago. It was a more heavier duty construction unit than the standard units. (It weighed like 3x more than the standard Walker replacement muffler did) The stock unit I had before burned/rusted out in a year. I did not notice any performance or mileage difference, but it is just a bit louder.
