I have a '91 XLT with the 4.0L V-6. It is all stock and has 90,000 miles on it. I would like to do a few mods to it. I don't really want to mess with anything other than the intake, fuel, and exhaust.

before i start modifying it, is there anything i should replace? I read a faq page about this motor and there were a few things mentioned, but this truck has not been driven very hard, so i don't think there should be anything wrong with it.

About the mods, what do you guys suggest i buy for this truck? I have looked at a bunch of sites, but i haven' found much. I want as much power and torque as i can get by only changing the intake and exhaust. I want a big V-8 sound too, if i can get it.

I would like to get some headers, but i haven't found any for the V-6. Where can i get parts for this truck and what do you guys reccomend?

Welcome to the site..Lots of goodies for your rig..Check explorer express..And, check out the Fl. Club, you will be able to see the mods first hand..

Bang for bucks, it's tough to beat N2O (nitrous oxide) injection. There are a lot (and I do mean a LOT) of myths about nitrous so research carefully.

Newer systems will increase either injector "on" time or fuel pressure when the N2O is active. It is very, VERY important to be sure of your fuel supply or engine damage WILL result. Other than that, engine life will be the same as other mechanical mods designed to increase cylinder pressures. Higher pressures will decrease engine life through increased wear on cylinder walls, etc.

For increased power, there is, unfortunately, no real good replacement for cubic inches.

you could get a supercharger. there are a couple sites that sell superchargers for the 4.0 OHV engine.
