The shackles will also produce a slight amount of extra flex from the longer sway back and forth as they pivot. If you do any serious fourwheeling you will hit your shackles. Don't worry about the Warriors. They are VERY heavy duty. You can bang them all day and it won't hurt them at all.

hey rafar, just fyi, i got mine in today. it took two weeks to the day, would have gotten them yesterday, but ups had the wrong address. i'm putting them on tomorrow

I have a 2000 4dr XLT. I would like a medium size lift. Please let me know if I am correct in my knowledge.
I could:
In the rear.
Add a leaf
or shackles

In the front.
Torsion twist

Is this right?? or could I just instal a body lift?
Thanks,
Rob

You are somewhat correct. I've heard that you can't use add-a-leaf on the monoleaf spring. I've also heard of people doing this. So I'm not too sure. People??

Here is a link on the install of the torsion twist for you
http://www.4x4central.com/torsionbars.html

Okay, so the shackles will work, along with the torsion twist. But is there a body lift kit for a 2000?

From all that I know there is not a body lift for the 2000 explorer. You might be able to use a lift from the older Explorers but I'm not sure. If there is a body lift for the new explorers I'd like to know.

Rob2000,

There are a few people who have used the add-a-leaf on the Sport monoleaf. They used the Rancho leaf, not the Pro Comp leaf. You won't need to worry about that because you have a 4dr and it will have a leaf pack. The 2001 Sport has a leaf pack so I was able to use the Pro Comp add-a-leaf. I also have the WP Shackles and tosrion twist.

You can also get a body lift, but there isn't one specifically made for a 2000. There is a kit for the 91-94 explorers made by Perfomance Accesories that a lot of guys have used on late model explorers. They also make a kit for the 98 Ranger which will also work. There is a bit of modification needed during install. The main mods are the bumper brackets and the steering shaft extender. I think a few guys had some problems with the Ranger kit bolts not being long enough. When you order, get some one knowledgable and tell them what year and model you have, they will get you close enough. Most guys here have used Perfomance Accesories kits and liked them. I will be getting a 3" in a month or so, but it's gunna be cold so who knows when I will get around to it.

Good luck

Thanks, I will love to see your 3 inch body lift. I looked around and found a 3 inch body lift from Performance Accesories and Trailmaster. The closest model I could find was a 1992 4wd Ranger. So you think it is possible to lift a 2000 4dr 2wd with that product with minimal modification to the kit?
If anyone has any other ideas, I would appreciate them.
Thanks again,
Rob

Ya, the blocks are the same for everybody, it's the number of blcks that's different. The bumper brackets have to be modified no matter what year you have and the steering extention has never been right from what I have read. Modifications come with the territory. You're buying a kit for a different vehicle so naturally modifications will be necessary. It only takes minimal mechanical knowledge to do them and if you can't there are plenty of shops who will for a minimal price. You can always come here too for questions and answers.

When you say "steering extention has never been right from what I have read." First what are steering extensions and can the extension be modified so that it will work properly. Just confused when you say "never been right" Anyway thanks for all your help.
Rob

Well, the steering extension just extends the shaft the extra few inches because of the body lift. From what I have read it just has do be hoaned out a bit and then it will fit. A Dremel Tool will do the trick. Some guys just leave them off, but it makes the steering a little stiff.

Great, thanks for the info. When you receive your body lift I will love to hear about it. Thanks for all of you help
Rob

Hey guys you think the Warrior Shackle will fit on my 94 Ranger? I think it will but I need validation.

pretty sure

hix, they should. if you need some exact measurements...let me know, I'll take them off mine. I've got a question....wouldn't it be easier for you to use the axle block set up to get the little bit of extra lift that you need? The shackles are heavy duty, but they do hang down. I also think with the mods that you are doing that it will be a cleaner set up. I would ask Bill, Ranger X, he seems to be the resident expert on Rangers. Good Luck with Trace's kit.

I agree

Seems to me that lifts blocks are your best bet. They are alos much cheaper.

I don't want the blocks b/c of axle wrap. I am using an add-a-leaf in cunjuction w/ the lift shackles to gain the needed lift. I don't really care about the shackles draggin. They drag anyway.

woah

Wow...what a thread! :)

I had kinda been thinking about shackles since I heard you could increase the travel significantly just by changing them to slightly longer versions...now I can get them and everyones worked out the bolt problem..no drilling wheeee

My question on these is, whats the most popular (or what are the options) to lift the front to level this out? (on the 91-94..no torsion bars)
I've seen some replacement coil springs, and the spacer-under-the spring thing..I mainly want something thats not gonna drop out at max travel..

Also, how bad do the springs flatten in the rear when you add the shackles? Is this a problem?

eh

everyone tired of this thread already?

I was also wondering if the new shackles would help me get around the bushing replacement problem..i.e. I dont have to remove my old bushing from the shackle to put my urethane ones in...or is this not applicable to the warrior shackles?

Also, has anyone got theirs yet with the new bolt/hole size? I wanna make sure I get these and not the old ones since everyone went to so much trouble to make them right :)

When I changed my shackles last month, I took the nut off the Stock Shackle and it fit perfectly on the bolts from my New Warrior Shackles. So I would assume that the Shackle Kits are the ones with the new bolts and drilled out holes.
