Greetings all. I have a 2019 Explorer, basic features, the AC has always been weak in my opinion in terms of airflow, cooling temperature seems fine. I maintain the car, regular oil changes, etc., including changing the cabin air filter. I recently put in an STP Max filter, and it seems that the airflow has gotten worse, so I am wondering if the extra layers of filter could be creating that situation, or if I should be looking at an AC recharge or something else. Best I can see the blower motor is not clogged or anything, but we do have dogs, and vents do not appear to be clogged, I check those regularly as well. Thanks.

Fan 'strength' has nothing to do with AC charge.

Try taking the cabin filter out and see if there's a difference without the filter installed.
If it improves, get a standard cabin filter.
The HEPA type filters are more restrictive and can cause lower flow.
I just run plain cabin filters in all my vehicles.

While the filter is out, try to inspect/feel the evaporator fins.

This is a '90s truck which had NO cabin filter (from the factory - they didn't exist back then), so it's an extreme case, but you get the idea:

Obviously, it's not nearly that easy to pull & clean the evaporator from a PIU/Explorer, so let's hope it's JUST the cabin filter.

I was surprised at how not-old he looked in Ocean's 13. I'm even more surprised to find out he's dead.
