I only have this problem with the weatherstripping on the front driver side door, the rest is intact and fine.

I was wondering if there was a cheaper solution to this without having to replace the whole thing. The pictured area is the only problem spot, so replacing the entire strip would be unnecessary unless that's my only option.

As seen in the second picture, it hangs outside the door and is really an eyesore, its been bothering me and well, its time to fix it.

I crudly taped and glued mine together just to make it work. If you could get a good adhesive that should fix it. Or you can replace the entire weather stripping

I have several spares, I have been buying new parts for both of my trucks. They cost about $40 each for me for the two part numbers from Ford.

replace man...it aint all that hard...just requires about an hour and some of your choice glue...you'll find the car is quieter and less howl...all the stripping shrinks from years of use...replaced mine last fall was the best noise reducer

There is no glue required, the weatherstripping has metal channels in them to firmly hold the body. Take your time installing them, set them on gently and put plenty of material in the corners. Stretch it in the middle slightly, you want to have a slight(say 1/2") overhang before placing the final end in, at the bottom. Push the ends apart there to have them relaxing back together.

No glue??? then whats the residue that came off on my fingers??? must of been real grimey

There may be a sealant of some kind in those channels, I know the stuff you mentioned. They go on really nicely by hand and don't let go. The hard part is R&Ring the trim pieces to get to the seals.

haha I think my trim pieces are out more than they are in....I like to touch them up a bunch

I know it wont last a long time but I took some weather stripping out of a junk yard sploder that was bad in places and cut pieces out to put in mine.... Its been like that 6 months now and seals perfect... I used some good silicone everywhere I joined it
