Paul - you apparently do not read a single thing that I have posted in this thread. Otherwise, you would not waste time rehashing or arguing against words that were not said:
I QUOTE: "Someday you may be somewhere where there is no telephone or maybe you will be somewhere that you shouldn't be. And you will be sitting on the edge of the bumper wondering why you have no spare tire and how you are going to get out of this mess."
1. The telephone arguement maybe true to somepoint, but from what I can recall, Cellular phones are available in the United States and unless you are away way out in the country - you will have a signal and help will be on the way.
2. Just in case if you do live out in the country (I stated "out in Guam") or will be "going on a long journey or offroading," I specifically agree with you that yes it would be a bad idea.
Losing weight is an option for many reasons such as improve gas mileage, in some cases driveability, racing, etc.
A second statement in my direction was - "If you knew anything about drag racing you would know that a 100lb weight saving equates to a 1/10th of a second reduction in 1/4 mile ET. If you can notice a difference on the street of 4/100ths of a second then go ahead and remove your tire. Hell, if you can prove to me that it is noticable I will throw away my spare tire and my jack and my tire iron."
Are you for real? You must be the one that does not know anything about racing to even make a statement like that. If you drag race or very similarly race from one light to the next, 1 tenth of a second can make all the difference in the world (its the difference between whether you will or lose), any competetent person should know that.
Rather than arguing nonsense, prove my theory correct by watching some drag racing on TV - if you have cable, try watching some ESPN. Then tell me how close a lot of the races are and then, maybe then, you can explain to the guy that lost, how it happened when he was only a tenth of a second behind.
Once again, this site is for information and suggestions, no demands are made that insist upon anyone following someone else's suggestions, we have free will. Someone asks for a suggestion, people make posts, they decide for themselves. Outway the risks against the benefits and decide for yourself.
