Weights on the outside vs. static..

Whats up gang?? Recently I had some SenDel rims installed on my 97 X. Anyway - they're pretty cool and all, but the tire shop put the balancing weight on the outside of the rims, instead of on the inside. Now Im worried that they have scratched the rims by putting them on there, and that it will cause rusting and get build up around the area they are clamped to. It wouldnt be such a big deal, but I live in Michigan and in the winter they will be subjected to salt, mud, snow, and - well you name it we got it. Anyhow - you think I should have them put them on the inside (static), or just keep em the way they are??

I hate that. I am going to have my new 20 installed soon. I am going to tell them to use the inside weights and not the clamp on ones. I can't stand those! I would take them back and have them put on the static weights. However, I think that they have already scratched the wheels with those weights. :eek:
 






There's a new balancing method out there. I dont know if it'll work on low profiles but I don't see why it wouldn't. Anyway, it's called powder balancing I believe, and it involves filling the tire with some sort of powder that sticks to the tire wall where needed. Maybe you should check into that.
 






I think thier called equal packs four wheel parts used them when they put on my 33" works great hav'nt had
any balancing problems yet. You have to ask them to use it otherwise they will usually use weights
 






Even further, I noticed weights on the inside as well. Sheesh. I ll go back and mention the other methods you guys mentioned. Hopefully they aren't scratched -

I am just the opposite. When I had the used set of wheels I bought mouted they only put the weights on the inside not both. The best way to ballance is to add weight to both inside and outside. I don't care if it looks crappy, or scrathes the wheel. They are going to get nicked or scratched sooner or later anyway.
 






i have had bad luck with the powder stuff. although, it was on a relativly big tire (33x15.50 Swamper), but the only way we could get them balanced was good 'ole weights.
