First off, I apologize if I am posting this to the incorrect thread--I wasn't able to locate another one with the same exact issue.

The turn signals on my 97 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer are only working intermittently. The problem seems to get progressively worse as time goes on. I discovered the other day that if I fiddle with the handle (pushing it back at different angles), the signals will click back on again.
I haven't checked my hazards yet, but intend on doing so the next time they click off.
Any ideas?

Thanks in advance--I'm at a loss!

Sounds like your multi-function switch is bad. I think you can just replace the whole thing, not sure about the difficulty or price, though. Good luck with it!

You could also try getting in there with some contact cleaner and it might fix the problem. Hopefully it's the simple option!:)

It sounds like the MFS, check the connections, you may be able to tie the connection together.

I had the same problem when I bought my 98, all I did to solve it was remove the stalk, clean up the contacts with a bit of wet n dry paper, give it a good blast of wd40 and now it works spot on. Every once in a while it plays up, but untill it's completely shot I'm not going to buy another one.
