S'ok, I thoroughly embarrassed myself trying to race a VW Golf on the highway the other day. Probably burned 3x more gas than him too.:D
 






It was one of my friends but she was a camera girl instead of man lol. Anyways I was fairly dissapointed even though it was a blast. I got high 16's low 17's with speeds around 79-82mph. I really need that tuner now! Im going back though Friday night. hopefully more rice and less Muscle cars and cars with blowers!!

Heres the thing about not having a tune. With your stock tune, when you mash the gas your EEC sends out a set conditions for WOT un-like the rest of the time where the EEC is adjusting fuel and such its just a set program. So now your modified and running the same program and not getting the fuel and spark, and timing you need. In other words get tuned and you'd be doing way better.

What were your actual times/mph? Mine ran a 16.7 with the same mods you have now. That 60 foot time is what really kills us.

it may not launch well all the time, but having the AWD will eliminate wheel spin off the line as well.

That chevy had you off the line cuz ur AWD gripped but took away power to adjust traction, not to mention that chevy has massive amount of torque and HP at the wheels (since chevy actually has a REALLY 2WD setting *hint hint ford*) but your weight won you the race in the end.

Yeah my times were very similar to yours Eric. I was hurting for a tuner yesterday. I don't think I went up against an ordinary car. It was either Supercharged/turbo charged, or a 5 speed manual. Some had both. The only raw Automatic I raced was a '65 mustang and I just gave up on that one. Better luck on Friday though my friends are going to race. Bringing a 95' Cougar V8 and a '92 Lebaron LX.
 






The cougar should be a good race, I raced one from a stop light and we were pretty even to about 45mph, and that was with the stock tune. I'm going to go to heartland park friday night, I'm hoping to get a really high 15, since I was only short by a couple of hundredths the last time I went.

Really? I raced my friends cougar at a stop light once and that was with my 70lb subs in the back and before the Torque Monster Headers and He didn't even catch even with me until around 65-70mph. I'd say he started "Slowly passing me after about 75 to 80. heh I dunno....Either way I doubt Friday night there will be as many muscle cars since most of those people probably work during the week. I'd hope to see more High schoolers bring their wanna beeeeeeee" tuners and rice burners to the track with their 1.8 4 speed automatics. Hell after yesterday racing Geoff's brothers car (2005 Dodge Stratus R/T 5spd.) is a relief.:confused:
But I'm not going to get all down, afterall the Explorer wasn't meant to drag and it was still hanging tough. I'll probaby still be on my original motor and tranny past 200,000 miles while others are already rebuilding!

that's not an excuse your tires don't need to be warmed up with the awd, the only way you'll get wheel spin is if you try and launch from an ice patch. What times were you running last night, I'd like to see some actual numbers.

The slips are in the truck i'll get them later and post them but I was actually slower this past friday than the sunday before. I still raced the LEbaron earlier when it was still daylight and beat him too. I raced the Cougar and beat him by maybe half a car length. So I was 3 outta 4 when Racing my friends. I'm going to get the tuner next month when I get The Bush Check. Then I'm going right back out there to the tracks!!
 






looks like u had fun i never took my sport on a raceway yet.
