Damn, you got some money. Does the boost cooler work good? I'm thinking of getting it too. What kind of airbox that you have you air filter in?

i have not even run the boost cooler yet, i want to get all of the bugs worked out of the system without it first. i am going to have two different tunes, one with it and one without it. i will let you know what kind of difference it makes, but it won't make a difference by itself. if you just put it on there and don't make any other changes, most people will lose HP. you have to lean out your fuel or increase your boost or advance your timing inorder for the boost cooler to be worth it. you also need to have a tuner that knows what they are doing when tuning it so they don't blow it up....

the airbox is the one that came with the supercharger. the air filter is a from a MAC adapter kit for a lightning. i had to cut out part of the sheetmetal behind the headlight inorder to fit the airfilter. it was worth it though, the filter that came with the supercharger was way too small and i found a website that listed the CFM that the airfilter flowed, it was pathetic and actually a restriction. so i replaced it with something that will not be a restriction for sure...

also beau, most tuners will tell you should gain anywhere between 30-80HP with the boost cooler with a good tune. the variation in the HP figure is based on your mods and motor, and how conservative your tuner is with the tune.

the one problem with the boost cooler that you have to be careful of is that if you tune for the water/meth injection and for some reason it fails, you can be sure you are going to detonate. that is why i am setting up two different tunes. the water injection will be more of a race tune, only run when i want to....

Which is exactly why I would not tune for it yet until I had the short block. Even running the water meth injection without the tune to compensate should net you a little more power in the boost cooler (more dense air charge) department, let alone being able to turn your spark timing advance up after the tune. I wouldn’t see any reason why you would lose much if any power on an untuned setup. Yes it would mess with your A/F ratios a bit but you would be one heck of allot safer and have a hell of allot less chance of detonation running with the boost cooler versus not, even untuned. I guess it is all a judgment call and how much risk we want to take. I, personally wouldn’t bother to run the boost cooler till I felt safe to tune for it and be able to handle possible detonation if it did mess up (aka built short block). Running 9 psi with a good stall TC and a built tranny should give you some fun for now until you can afford the short block and complete the next big step the right way.

I've got some money saved up and the boost cooler/dyno will be one of my next mods. If you get yours going before me, let me know how much of a difference it makes. I've heard all kinds of claims, but it's ALWAYS humid as hell in Georgia, so I don't know if the ambiant temp. will effect it too much.

ok, will do, i just got back in town and i am going to iron out a couple of things this weekend and go back to the dyno next week. i will let you know what happens...
