Went to the dyno today

Hey Mike make sure you get those sheets from him. Brian should be able to really tweak the chip with some accurate A/F readings. It's been said but those sheets aare vital tools for tuning. Properly tuned you very well might be able to squeeze another 5-8 hp before the juice.

I really have to ask- what were you expecting? You say you are disappointed, but by what? a number, or the NOS problems? How did you arrive at your inital expectation? Just curious, because I think the "numbers" are really good and you really shouldnt be disappointed with what you've done.

I was hoping for 200 rwhp with the n2o. I am not upset at the numbers I am upset that my chip didn't do what I paid for it to do.

FYI, at my first dyno session with the s/c, I got it to 200 rwhp and 250 rwtq. Now I have around 235 hp and 300 tq.

what was your air/fuel ratio with and without the chip? The goal is for the chip to program in enough fuel to have a similar air/fuel ratio to n/a. Anywhere in the 12:1 - 12.7:1 range is perfect. Much above is too lean, and much below is too fat.

The chip also takes back timing on the nitrous setting.

I can reburn it, but I really need to see the dyno graphs to look at air/fuel

btw, that HP isn't bad compared to what I have seen. I am a little confused though, what did the truck run without nitrous. Are you sure it's actually spraying?

Brian the air/fuel with the chip in the performance setting was around 14:1. With the chip in the n2o setting it went to about 13:5 which is no where safe for n2o I was told. Those numbers are with out the n2o I wasn't able to spray due to a bad solenoid that nos sent me.

Brian I had called you yesterday and left you a msg. If you could call me back when you can I would appreciate it.

Thanks

Michael Guzman

Yea me too.

I've been at the dyno today, but tomorrow (monday), I'll call you both. Is it 14:1 above 4000 rpm's, or in the beginning. It should tip in at 14.7:1 and take about 1000 rpm's to drop into the operating range. That's because your catalytic coverters are causing the odd reading for the first 1000 rpm's after tip in.

Mike, I feel your pain

I spent around $10,000 in engine mods and wound up with only 340 RWHP. I thought I'd have over 400 for sure. Talk about disappointing, I've been sick about it ever since. Had I spent that money on a stang, it would
have flown. I still need to sort out my excessive crankcase pressure and detonation problems.

So for what you've done, and the money you spent, you should be happy. When you get the chip in order and the No2 working properly, then see how you feel. Just my .02 . Dom

and buy a Neon SRT instead of the Spec-V. It's about the same price, and 2 secs quicker. It may not last as long, or be very reliable, but it's the most fun out of the box....

Actually my buddy just showed me the srt-4. im not a big fan of the neon body styling but the thing does look quick judging from the engine specs. I have also heard rumors of an awd version. If the awd one does come out im all over it.

The only thing about the SRT4 (besides it's dragonfly looks and all the other stuff) is that they're very hard to launch and can eat through clutches quickly.

just saw one a little while ago. bright yellow.

i respect the motor, i respect the potential it has, and i respect the entire concept of cheap 4 door @ss-hauler. but dayum, its still a Neon. :( thats the only thing i still have against it. i will say they are quite easy to get into the high 11's. and insurance vs. a 'stang or camaro is really cheap. but still, its a Neon. :(

Yea but how priceless would it be to see a guys face in a v8 that just got whooped up on by a neon.

I would not be dissappointed at all with 246 ft/lbs at the wheels, and like 300 ft/lbs at crank....not too bad, i say,old chap... :)

But think, how many modded 'stangs are out there??
And then think, how many modded, 340hp explorer's are there??

My goal of modifying presicely.

Rear wheel HP of Stock V8?

Hey guys, what is the rear wheel horsepower and torque of a 97 5.0? The percentage loss?

All I have done to mine is a single flowmaster exhaust, and K&N open air filter.

I will be doing, 75mm Pro-M MAS, Apten Chip, and a new dual exhaust systems, with headers, high flow cats and either dual in/out or two single flowmaster mufflers.

What would those new mods give me for added horsepower and torque?

Probably still about 25% for the AWD, a little less for the 2wd.

That would give you about 160/200 hp/tq at the wheels stock.

I'd guess somewhere around 195/235 at the wheels after the mods, but keep in mind that's just an estimate. You may make less peak gains than that but gain more at non peak RPMs.
