that's your vehicle's RAP module "Remote Anti-theft Personality (RAP)" don't mess with it. it controls things like remote entry and the security key pad (if so equipped). the large 5 digit number on the sticker on the module is your factory key pad combination code.

Hmm, this makes me curious. I'm aware that the gray box is the RAP module, but what exactly is the black one?
I have an XL that didn't come with factory anti theft, so I don't have a RAP module, but I still have that black box with tons of wires..

If you don't tow a trailer the best source of power would be the hot side of the trailer tow park lamp relay. That's the DG/YE wire that gets power from fuse 30 (15 Amps) in the central junction box. The other relays are on fuse 18 (25 Amps) in the central junction box which also powers the lumbar and seat motors.
According to the diagram I looked at, all three door lock relays are in "Relay Box #4 " - unfortunately, the website I use for wiring diagrams doesn't say what else is in that box. I'm pretty sure that box in the back is the lock relays. Easy enough to check if your battery is in - remove them and see if the locks stop working. Or pull the relays and look at the bottom - the driver's door unlock has terminals marked 1 thru 5: the other two have terminals marked 30, 85, 86, 87, 87A. Good luck.
imho: one thing working on cars for many years has taught me is that when it comes to wiring and electrical components, if you don't know what it does don't mess with it. about the only thing i've ever encountered that may be there without a reason is electrical plug/connector for options a particular vehicle doesn't have. i am very comfortable working with auto wiring, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
True and I somewhat agree but if you don't experiment you'd never learn new things. LoL
I personally like learning, either by someone's else's failures or my own.
