What can i do to my explorer?

Ok, so currently I drive a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500. My mom has the Explorer and has decided to give it to me since I am a single full time dad with a dog. The truck is just impractical. Anyways, I am an outdoorsy dude, i like to hunt fish and hike, surf fish mostly. My question is, what kind of mods can i do to the Explorer that isn't too outrageous?

If you are into camping, look at the vehicle tent options. I get inspiration from reading the Expedition portal forums. Tricked out vehicles (mostly land rovers and such) meant for adventures.

First get a good set of tires. All terrain tires should fit your needs.

A good set of tires and make sure it's mechanically sound. Other than that, I wouldn't waste any more money on it. Post some pictures when you can!

What year is the Explorer ?

Fresh Tune Up / Aux Lights / AT Tires = keep it simple.

Car audio on the other hand... well there is a ton of options.
