What do dealers use for spot-free washes?

On car lots I see the deatil dudes going around with a pressure washer and some kind of water tanks on it. I was wondering how these "spot free" washers work and could I get one for home use

correct me if im wrong, but isnt it water/washing detergent with a little alcohol mixed in for quick evaporation (no water means no water spots) thats what i thought at least...

The dealerships I have worked at used soft water to cut down on water spots. There are many devices you can by for home use. Check out some of those as seen on TV websites, I am sure you can find one.

Its a machine that softens the water as it comes through it. A lot of car washes use it too. Mine does and I never have any water spots at all.

As stated above, you can buy them for home use. I've seen them sold on TV before...

I don't have one, I just use a leaf blower to blow all the water away when I wash at home.

At the carwash I work at, we use a reverse osmosis system to filter the water and make sure it's pure and then it is softened with salt. Streak free, spot free.

I use an electric blower too. Works great and no scratches! The water here has alot of calcium. Every faucet has residue on it. If anyone has a link to a electric pressure washer with water softner unit that would be great. I haven't found exactly what I'm looking for yet.

Our water here is terrible too, I know what you mean. You leave it on the car's surface and it doesnt just leave a spot, it can etch and cause damage.

I was told by some Zaino distributor on a different BBS that some places had a chemical additive to that "spot-free" rinse water that made it not spot. no idea if its true though

As far as I know, the self-wash places just use highly filtered water. So, if you've got a super soaker with a backpack, (which I do) then you could probably fill it with distilled water, and get the same effect.

I know for a fact that many carwashes use softened water for "spot Free" my family is part owner in a chain of car washes in north east ohio and we put water softners in every car wash we build or buy. works great on the cars. and drying your car with blowers helps even more. we put car dryers in some of our car washes and i love them.

Here in Wisconsin the car washes use soft water. Salt is used during the softening process to regenerate the resin bed. It,s my understanding some locations, CA comes to mind, softeners are againest the law because of the salt discharged.
