I am buying the KKM true rev kit and a Super chip for my 2001 Sport and looking at the exhaust to go with them. I see cat backs that vary in price from $170.00 to $600.00. What is the difference other than Stainless or alumnized? Should I just go down to the local shop and have them put on one or order a performance setup off the internet. I am looking for power with out much more noise.

Thanks, I really appericate everyones oppinions!Dead Link Removed

I would strongly recommend that you go to the local exhaust shop and have them make a custom cat back for you. My custom job cost only $200.

Good luck....

I have and love a Borla, word is you can get a good deal at www.truckperformance.com or use the carparts 20% off. if you go to a shop make sure and get a good muffler, but remember the bends won't be mandrel bends (thus the full diameter of the pipe will not be realized)

the flowmaster force ii would be your best bet...good power increase and not that much louder than stock

Just get yourself a Flowmaster 50 series that looks like your original muffler (re: inlet and outlet) and bring it to a good custom muffler shop. i just got mine done this past week and i love it... it sounds sooo good. no regrets. already caught some turning heads... oh baby.

Get a system custom bent by a local shop. I had a Flowmaster 50 series SUV dual-in single-out put on my X 2 weeks ago, and I am very pleased with it. It's loud when you get on it, but you don't have to shout to be heard during normal driving. Plus it only cost me $225 and was done between my lunch hour and when I got off work.

GET A BORLA! THEY are $300 bucks and improve your mpg your hp and they are stainless steel, they have a million mile warrantie and overall they are the best exhaust IMO

after all the people replied I decided to go with the Flowmaster force 2, This thing is awesome! it goes on with little effort, but getting old one off is a PITA! I love the sound, with my KKM in it definately sounds like a V-8 very throaty a little past 3000 and then it starts screaming.... sounds awesome and I have noticed increased horsepower! 10 out of 10!

nice any aftermarket exhaust is awesome! to get the old exhaust off it takes a lot of wd-40

I used noly a littel WD-40 on the bolts but alot on those darn rubber hangers! I ended cutting the first rubber hanger off, and 2 portions of the pipe with a angle grinder LOL I got frustrated.... I reccomend going to the harware store and picking up 2 3/8 bolts about 2.5-3 inches 3 inches probably would be better but not sure.. the 2 bolts are the hardest to get off.... mine wouldn't get off and I ended up cutting them too lol! hot sparks falling on ones arms hurts!

Sounds to me like another reason to have the local exhaust shop make a custom one for you.....

if i go to a local shop for an exhaust, what is the maximum diameter pipe i can get, before it starts to hurt performance? since they are not mandrel bends, does that mean that i can go larger than a mandrel bent system? i want to get the optimum performance from my exhaust without spending tons of $$$.

ya those hangers are a PITA! i had like 4 on my car and got pissed
