About two weeks ago, my left turn signal froze, and it wouldn't blink anymore. When I would turn the signal on, it would just stick. I assumed it was a burned out bulb, but I haven't had time to fix it.

So yesterday, I was at the drive-thru car wash. I pulled into the car wash and sat there while it was running until the carwash was finished. As I pulled out, my engine began to sputter heavily! It felt like it was running on two cylinders. So I hit the gas, it lurched forward and then cleared up.

So I pull away, and it was running fine again. As I was driving back to work, I put the left turn signal on and the damn thing worked again!

What in god's name is going on here???????

Any ideas????

Sounds like you have a short somewhere. Check the major electrical connections and the connections to the under the hood power distribution box.

It seems as if your parking lamp control module that is located in cylinder #5 has become loose.

Hartman? WTF?

WHOA!

Hartman, are you being serious? You are quick on the draw!

Is that the one with the radium diode?

hahahahahaha.

check your muffler bearings as well, they contain the diode sensor that the PLCM (parking lamp control module) uses for input... ;)

seriously, sounds like a loose connection or bad ground somewhere.....

Two seperate issues if you ask me.

Sounds like the flasher is on its way out.
Do you have an alarm installed?
I have found that alarm installers use piss poor tap in wire connections to the parking lamps, headlamps, ignition circuits, etc. I soldered all mine after having countless problems with the alarm wiring.
If not then I would say go get a new flasher (like $2). Could also be the turn signal switch itself....how many miles are on the truck? This is assuming you have checked all the bulbs and fuses first

For the car wash, sounds like you got some water in your intake, 4.0L intake systems are not very "water tight" from Ford, I really question their duct work from thew inlet to the airbox.....

i think my turn signal switch is on its way out too. today, my flasher is blinking while im at a light, then it stops, and a puff of smoke comes out of the hazard light switch on the top of te steering column, then the light started blinking again. my truck has done this twice before in the last year.

My left blinker occasionly stays on and doesnt flash for the left side also. Waiting for a hard fail.

i plan on picking up a new "multifunction switch" tomorrow (if the dealer on the way to my GF's has one in stock, if not, ill have em order it for me and have it by next week. most likely, thats the problem, and apparently, its pretty easy to swap it out.
