I would go with a K&N air filter, some underdrive pulleys, and a catback for starters..... Then maybe a shift kit and some new shocks......

Now if you want to open up the engine we can get mad crazy!

But not a drop-in K&N. An open-element. There are no 5.0 underdrive pulleys. 3" catback exhaust and a custom tuner (www.bamachips.com). You'll see some pretty good gains.

And NOS! Best bang for the buck out there! Other than that, you've got the basics down. Pretty much what husky said.

What does NOS stand for?

Nitrous Oxide. Also called N2O

nitrous

or... Naaaaaaaaawwz!

Hold on just one second. It depends on how many stickers your honda has.

Why would you not be able to get overdrive pulleys on an explorer 5.0l but get them for a 5.0l mustang?

Different accessory brackets.

which is the best noticable performance improvement to add a chip, cai, or exhaust I can't afford all three right now wondering in what order to add these thanks also any links to sites with these items are there anyaftermarket throttle bodies for the explorer 5.0? I saw a throttle body spacer somewhere on the net is there any performance gain there

You can run a search on the spacers. They're junk. I have one and noticed nothing. Pulled it off, nada. You should go intake, exhaust, chip (tuner), in that order.

to be honest i'd be willing to bet you wont' be able to tell the difference power wise with any of the 3.

the chip would improve the feel of teh truck by itself the most though (mainly do to shift improvement)

however, if you do the other two adn then the chip the chip will be a wonderful gain.
