Tune up, What is it ?

Hi all,
(Explorer XLT 1997 all wheel drive)
I bought it at 60k, it is now at 112k, and it has never had a tune up.
What exactly does this repair consist of, do I need it, do I need new injectors and how much should it cost?

At 100K, assuming nothing has been done, you should look into the following

Plugs
Wires
Fuel Filter
Front Diff fluid
Rear Diff Fluid
Transfer Case Fluid
Transmission FLush
Radiator Fluid

I'd do those at a bare minimum. You could also look into a Fuel SYstem cleaning, Power steering flush (this will greatly reduce the typical ford PS whine), and possibly flushing the brake fluid.

Plugs on a V6 will be around 69.99, 89.99 for a V8
Wires from a shop will vary, but around 50-75 bucks
Fuel Filter should be around $35 changed at a shop
Front diff, rear diff, and x-fer case for about $75 all three
Tranny flush varies with vendor, less than $100 is reasonable
Radiator about $45.

The Fuel Injection services vary depending on brand, $50-$100
Power steering is $40-$60
Brake fluid, honestly I don't know

What I would do is get new plugs and wires, change all fluids, pcv valve, clean the MAF and Throttle body.
