I am a fan of gatorback belts. One parts store has one for 31$. I would like to use that.
I heard of many other brands of belts and prices and just wondering what people use and have the best luck with.

I currently have a OEM replacment (replaced at 25k when the water pump was done/ shop messed up the belt).

Thanks
Jake

I would think that any major brand made in USA belt would be okay, including OEM. My original belt is still on untouched at 102K miles and 7 yrs. 4 mos. New belts last a whole lot longer than the old V-belts.

Only one i use. I find it to be quieter than others. When the water pump was going out on my '96 heep it was the only one that stopped the squeak.

Good thing is it isnt the most expensive belt out there (40some $). I didnt check the dealer. I will stick with the gatorback.

No one answered my other post, so i will post it up here.

Any tips or tricks on removing the fan ? I know i need to rent a fan clutch removing tool and turn the big nut counter clockwise. ?

anything else i need to know?

thanks

Fan should stay on, its tight but i got 22" 1/2inch wrecker bar on the tensioner from the top. Route the belt and for me I had to hold the bar when i got to the Alternator. Maybe lube the tensioner with WD40 before hand . . .

ya i left the fan on when i replaced the tensioner pulley .17$ pulley or a 80$ unit from ford , so i just got the pulley from a parts store.

but i have to get in there and clean the rubber that is built up in the ribs of a few pulleys and wanted to remove the fan as that would give me more room to work.

cant be that hard.

Go on eBay, I got a goodyear gatorback for $15.95 and free shipping.
