what is the piece that connects to the little needle that points to (P R N D 2 1) mine is off when im in drive it sayed im in 2 i need to know what it is so i can get a new one thanks

Needle probably isn't the problem. There's a string in there that controls the position. It most likely slipped or broke.

yea theres a little plastic piece under the dash that is broken i need to know what that is

Ford calls it "Transmission Range Indicator". As far as I can tell from the illustration, it is replaced as a unit.
