vibration damper, some have them some dont. There's also usually one on the rear diff.

A pointless harmonic dampener is what it is. Took mine off at one point and never looked back.

Just kidding... It's the vibration damper as was already mentioned.

I have removed the "vibration damper" from my BII and my 96 trucks, from the t case and rear axle......no vibrations but I am 30# lighter AND I can access my t case shift motor and drain plug in 2 seconds!!!
