so, I am confusing, what kind of engine do I have in my car?

Well, not sure of the year or trim, but if it says SOHC it is probably a second-generation Explorer 4.0L SOHC EFI V6. The only other engines are the pushrod V6 in the first generation, and the 5.0L V8.

I check engine type on the www.autocheck.com, it says the engine is
EFI

I check the engine under the hood, the tube tell me it is SOHC 4.0

The 8th character of VIN number is E, I check with
http://www.fordf150.net/howto/decodevin.php
it says E — 4.0L EFI-SOHC, six cylinder.

To be clear, your engine is a 4.0 liter V6 , Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI), Single Over Head Camshaft (SOHC) engine.

You have a SOHC engine. The EFI is just related to what so of fue system you have. Is there something in particular that you needed the exact engine?

ALL explorers are EFI.

I was going to say that, but then I thought "someone will post a pic of an old F-series With the explorer trim package and say not ALL explorers!"
