...on a '01 ST with a TT and warrior shackles?

Will the stock shocks still work with that lift (mostly temporary), or would I need to get new shocks immediately?

Thanks.

Stock-size shocks arent a problem with the TT/War lift. However, you'll probably want better shocks for better performance on and off road. I love my Gabriel VST shocks, as do many other members. You can't beat the price and they're almost as good (and some say better) than expensive shocks such as Edelbrock, Bilstein, or Rancho.

Can it be true?

I find it hard to accept that a $20 shock can be better than an $80 shock. I'd love to be wrong, and if you have positive (or negative) experience, please respond.

My understanding is that the same shock technology is in use in all of those shocks.

If you're interested I just purchased a set of 4 Rancho 5000's. I will let you know what I think of them. I should have them on this weekend,as well as the installation difficulty. Checkout desert rat they have them for the cheapest price that I have seen 4-$147 no shipping. In my opinion the factory installs $20 dollar shocks...they work great but they just dont last as long as one would expect. If bilsteins are good enough for a corvette....then why are they not on cavaliers? No one wants to pay extra for better quality. I have been told that if u have the money get Bilstein. I do not want to spend over $200 to swap all 4 shocks sorry. Nor am I dumb enough to spend $100 and think they are as good as $200+

Just my .02

I just know what my butt's told me in rides of some other X's, a few with Gabriels, 2 with Bilsteins, and 1 with the Edelbrocks. I even made a trip in mine recently with the front swaybar disconnected (lost a part while offroading) and the Gabriels held up the front end just fine, even in corners. While they may not be as good as the pricey shocks, the Gabriels are damn near close and you can't beat $60 for 4.

It's your money...I am not gonna tell you how to spend it. As long as you are happy should be the motto here. Everyone gives an opinion here, the one ordering with the credit card makes the decisions on what he/she hears.

On my '01 with the TT and Shackle lift, I also have the Gabriels, and they can't be beat for the money. I originally ordered Explorer Pro Comp shocks for my X, but they didn't fit right, so I sent them back and called Pro Comp with some questions on them. They referred me to Monroe (who makes the Pro Comp and Rancho Shocks BTW), and the tech at Monroe actually told me to get the Gabriels because they are the same as the Monroe Reflex and the Edlebrock IAS for more money. I've had mine on for about 6k miles, and they have been great on and off road.
