sprayable bedliner would work.

You should also check out POR15.

Make sure to get the top coat too, or it'll fade.

i just use some high gloss black rustolim(sp?) easy tuch up when it gets dirty and wont clean up.

I would just use 3M undercoating part # 08881

FWIW I have pulled Por15 off in sheets from a vehicle.

Rustoleum flat black. It doesn't get any easier to put on, and the stuff sticks like mad. Here's a pic of where I painted my frame/wheelwell with it.

Powdercoating has always been a nice option!

I guess southernerers think alike :D Flat black rustoleum. The entire undercarriage is painted with that as well as the f/r bumpers, sliders, grille, cross bars from roof rack(before I got the Yakimas), the orange section in the molding, and the section below the molding on the truck. Everyone that has seen my truck can't believe that all of that is paint from Wally World :D. It is soooo easy to touch it up. The only problem I've had is that I have to talk my mom into buying it for me b/c I'm not 18 yet. I sure wish I could buy it myself so that I could use it to get high

Your serious? Anyone under 18 can't buy paint? I can see that in big cities up north with all the graphity (sp?) like New York, but wow. learn something every day.

That's what I said. I went up to the counter with two cans of black rustoleum and the lady asked me for my ID, "I need to verify you're 18." I was like "Are you serious?!?!" Anyways, I had to go home to get my mom to buy it.

I will ask them the next time I go in the wally world here. I am a lot older than that, but I am kind of stunned. I want to know now that you brought it up.

Oh yeah, another time I was at Wal-Mart, I was buying some touch up paint for my Explorer. I didn't even think about not being 18 and went to the self check-out. Then a thing popped up saying I needed assistance to check my D.O.B. The lady was kind of young and when I told her my birthdate it said that I wasn't old enough (obviously). She just changed my year from '87 to '86 so that I could buy a tiny little bottle of touch-up paint for my truck.

Now back to your regularly scheduled thread :D

I have the entire frame and wheelwells on both my X and 250 coated with the Duplicolor sray on bedliner AND and coat of semi-gloss rustoleum. I also just did the rockers and rims on the X that way. Once a year I have to touch it up, but never more than a cans worth of each.

So por15 isn't reccomended? I was planning on painting my axle with it. I would think it would stick if I prepped the metal properly. Rustoleum looks great for a quick solution. I might have to try that.

Seriously, Rustoleum is STICKY. All I did was quickly wire brush the metal and spray.

Adhesion is the key to any method. The POR15 is more than one part. There is a cleaner(skip that), a prep coat, the POR15, and a top coat. Many colors are available, I found the POR15 quarts locally for $29.95, and am waiting for the prep coat. I think it's like an etching primer. I may do a majority of my frame with it, while the chassis is bare.

The POR15 is light UV sensitive, and needs to be sealed in if it will be exposed to sunlight.

I heard a trick about resealing the can today. The POR15 will permantly seal the can if it is shut long enough. Place a sheet of food wrapping over the can before placing the lid back on. Good luck,
Don

I just bought some Dupli-color Spray-On Bedlining. I tested it and it looks pretty good. I want to do atleast the whole rear axle and springs. But I'm sure I will get spray happy. I will probably do a "before and after"! I plan on doing it Wednesday. And for reference, I wasn't carded to buy it - and never have been carded for any type of spray paint. You crazy kids these days!

I would use rust encapsulator from eastwood. The stuff is fantastic. I've used it on some really rusted inner fenders and the rust never came back. It used to be called corolis or something like that. I prefer it over POR15. However, it is inteded for metal that already has some surface rust. If you're rust free, then I would use something else.
