What type of transmission?

I have an 02 explorer, 4.0 2wd, 5r55w. I've already replaced a few hard parts and servo piston when I first got the car. Acting up again and just going to replace with a used.

Found one on CL for $300. Just not sure which transmission is in it.

I'm thinking it's a 5r55s. Will a S fit inside where normally a W is? My dad works at ford and is a master tech but thinks electrical may not plug in or something along them lines but everything else would. Said he hasn't tried it so not 100% sure.

It will fit and plug right up. Only issue is the early models have a different OD gear ratio. I have been using late model OD planets in early units as replacements with no problems that have been brought to my attention. Ratios are very close but a chance the TCM will pick up the error and set a light. Let us know how things work out.
