i'm looking to get new tires, so i thought hey i should get news rims as well, i want to keep stock size, what is the? i have a 92 2 dr 2 wd, what siz, width backspaceing is stock? tires are 235-75-15. what other size rims tires will be like stock so i dont have a speedo issue or clerence. 16"17"

thanks

I believe the tires for a 16" explorer is 255/60/R16! I may be wrong. Most wheels are 7" in width and backspacing is around 3.75!

If yours are 235/75/15 then a 16" comparison would be 235/70/16. You could go a little bit bigger and not affect the speedo much at all.

Your wheels are 15"x7". with 4" backspacing. If you do decide to get a bigger tire it would be good to get a wheel with a little less backspacing (3.75") like DMB mentioned.

Basically all of the Explorer and Ranger 15" wheels will work. The 16's are the same until the 2002 Explorer 4 doors, meaning the offset is the same.

Your stock 235/75/15 tires are 29 inches tall. The common 255/70/16 tires are 30" tall. As suggested, a tire around 245/70/16 will be 29.5" tall, and not noticeably affect the speedometer. This is the size that I am putting on my 93 Limited.

I have had 255/60/17's on my 98 Mountaineer. They were 29" tall, and had no affect on the speedometer. Most of the early to mid 90's Mustang wheels will fit. The later Mustangs have a greater offset, just like the 2002+ Explorer four door models. Good luck,
