as the title says...what would it take with awd 5.0? i plan on heads, but what would be best? no nitrous. was thinking motorsport x heads for the smaller ports to keep torque up, but should i be considering more flow like the performers rpms? can i do 13s without a supercharger? if i can get 350 hp (a good h/c/i should do that), calculators say i can, but i assume they are based upon a rear drive and likely a manual trans or high stall automatic.

where are you trying to go in such a hurry? surely you could just call and say you're gonna be late?

haha pilot:thumbsup: i'd say some sort of forced induction with a built bottom end to take it. Of course, most people just slap on a supercharger and call it a day until their engine blows b/c the stock bottom end can't take the boost.

my mustang ran for years on 8psi with the stock bottom end. its a 95, so no stock forged pistons. its all in the tune. not super worried about blowing an engine, but would like to avoid forced induction if at all possible. has anyone done a good 302 n/a and dragged it? i don't want to make a drag truck, just the capability to shock and awe.

well, there is always the stroker 347 option. no replacement for displacement ya know? and you can build it for the same or less money than if you slapped down 2500-3000 for a 'charger. but you could always go straight up turbo......

A Lamborghini.

j602=right on the money

I ran 13.9 on headers, true 2.5 duals, ported intake manifold, mac intake, 70mm pro-m mas air and a 100 shot. Good luck on 13s without a 347, nitrous or boost

i say get on ebay, find a holeset turbo, a decent intercooler, manual boost controller, a forged set of pistons(stick with a stock crank, just make sure you get a seasoned one) and don't spare any expense on connecting rods, etc.

i would really like to do a 347. think thats my best choice for what i want, but i really don't have the money now. i do, however, have the x heads at my disposal. is there a tuner or programmable chip out there for 97's? seems as though the major companies don't make anything for that year only. what gives?

STS Turbo Kits are the real deal. Probably the easiest and most effective thing you can do to make they baby screem.

smaller brakes should allow you to fit 13's

heres a list of the stuff i had to do on my old exp.
edelbrock upper and lower , performer.
CAI
full length headers to 2.5 H pipe to flowmasters to tails.
190 gph fuel pump
bigger injectors
msd ignition
roller rockers
heads milled and tighter springs
.480 lift comp cam
the heads are great... there gt-40 spec. mill em and do the rockers and springs.
i got a 13.88

hey ace, where did you get longtube headers? that's a pretty basic amount of adders. i am very suprised that the gt-40's could make enough power. was your truck 2wd? did you have to run a tuner? was your sock maf recalibrated or did you get a different one for the injectors?

the rest of you comedians should go on tour of other forums. your really good! i laughed myself silly just thinking of the IQ it took to dream up those responses.

what about a deaper gear set?...just a thought...

i got longtube headers for a mustang and modified them as best as possible, shoehorned them in LOL and just a jet chip. i forgot to mention the stage 2 shift kit in the tranny it all cost me around a grand with ebay and i was in the 13s:exporange

gears will always help you in the 1/4 mile but its a trade off you may gain low end performance but lose high end, so select the ratio carefully
