what xfer case should I use?

I have a 98 Ranger 5.0 4x4, Mazda 5 speed, destroyed 4404 case, 3:73 traction loc rear and need advice on what would be a good replacement for my broke 4404....Neil

Sure that's a 4404? A Ranger has a 1354 stock.

I would say replace it with the 1354. Problems in these cases are not real common.

Edit: oops I just noticed you said 5.0(L). I would replace it with whatever manual part-time case normally comes with your engine/trans combo.

well if the 4404 bolted up, then the 4406 should also yes?

thanks for the suggestions, I have it apart and found it to be the input shaft on the xfer case, I am goin lookin for what you suggested tomorrow even though it is 16 degrees as we speak in NE Pa. tonite, hopefully it will warm up a bit in the morning....Neil
