trying to find some decent rectangular lights with guards on them that i can mount on my roofrack (which i plan on getting soon :p ) It would be nice if they came from summit, as thats where im gonna order the rack and the lights from. I want to mount 4 up front and two on the back as reverse lights. Think these 55W lights will be enough?

a bit expen$ive but otherwise fine

They are a good sized light that would do just fine with an 85 watt bulb. Most lights can use 85 watts without hurting the lamp or shortening the bulb life. 55 watt is the DOT standard and therefore what most mfgs. put in the lights. While 30 more watts doesnt sound like much it is a 54% increase and is noticiable. If you change be sure to get the real 85 watt bulbs and not those that say "55watts but put out 85 watts", because they dont.

Ah good tip! Much appreciated. And since those are 'driving lights' they dont need to be covered and can be used on the road, right? Also, you guys think i'll have any issues wiht the palstic mesh cover/protector things?

if your mounting on a roof rack then i dont think they are street legal, your gonna be blinding people in the other lane.

Hmm... good point. ah well dont really planon using them on the road much anyways

i think that any light above the front bumper excluding headlights have to be covered.
