I need to replace my tires on my 06 Explorer. I'm looking at firestone destination at or le. Which one will be better? I live in Michigan so we get snow and ice. We mainly drive on road but do hunting in the fall. Or what tire would be my better option?

AT for sure. Not even close. The AT drives/rides like a highway tire, and is also as quiet BUT provides the traction of all terrain. Check the ratings on tirerack. Dest AT has always been at or near the top.

Personally not a big firestone fan but i would also favor the AT over the LE. Slightly more tread noise in my opinion (not loud, just not totally silent)... Plus they look way tougher. Are you on the 16 inch or 17 inch rims on your XLT? A lot more options in the 16 last time i checked

Actually, I just put the AT on mine. I love them, They are a more aggressive on the tread and they did an awesome job with road noise. if you have nothing on then you can hear them a little bit, turn on the radio just a little bit and you wouldn't even notice. I was going back and forth between these and the BFG rugged T/A KO. Went with these ones and im glad i did. Had the BFG on my trailblazer and made alot of noise. Def a good tire.

The BFG are pretty damn good tires too. they just have alot more road noise then the FS AT's. Never once did i get stuck with those tires and i drive in a lot of snow and ice and going off road during the spring/summer. I havent really put these to the test as of yet. Live in Upstate NY and the snow machine seems to be broken. not complaining, its better then the 5, 6 ft we would normally have by now.

I had Destination AT's on my Tribute. AWESOME.

I have Destination AT's on my 98 and love the look. I was wondering if they are road "hummers" more than other tires of that spec 235/75 R16. I just had new national hubs put in and hope it is the tires and not a front end problem. Anyone have any suggestions?

If those are your two choices, the answer is easy: go with the AT. I run them on my work explorer and on my F150. For an AT tire, they are quiet. I ran the LE's once on my 97 explorer, and between the horrid snow and ice traction, poor treadwear ( shot in 35,000 miles), and awful road noise as they wore... Never again...

I have the LEs on my 94. I bought it with them and they're not great. They'll make do but I wouldn't even pick them for a highway/all season tire.

I answered my own question...I was 10 lbs low on air. They now ride great as well as look good.
