2004 sport trac
I've been looking for an '03-'05 4x4 sport trac for a pretty long time. and found one that i'm somewhat interested in but it doesn't have a tow package. So i was wondering if anyone knew, for a fact, everything that's included with a tow package. I found some info on it but it didn't really sound like anyone knew for sure everything that comes with it. thanks for any help.

On my '03 ST XLT 4wd, when I bought it it didn't come with a tow hitch on it. It has the wiring harness and pigtail already on it so I would say the tow package only consist of the frame mounted tow hitch which I picked a class IV hitch from Uhaul installed with a 3 ball reciever and locking pin. for $178.

There was never a "tow package" as such offered from the factory on Gen 1 Sport Tracs. They already come with a separate tranny cooler and are rated to tow about 5500# with a proper frame-mounted hitch installed. But a frame-mounted hitch was never a factory option. I had a Class III/IV Hidden Hitch on my old '05 that I liked real well.

FYI, Gen 2's come with a Class II hitch standard along with the usual Ford 4-pin trailer light plug but there is an optional Class III/IV factory hitch with a 7-pin harness for a brake controller. There are no other parts like a tranny cooler or different axle ratio or anything.

thanks for the info, i was told that there was a tow package and it included anything from a hitch and wiring harness. To stronger springs, higher load range tires, bigger transmission cooler, bigger radiator, higher amp alternator, and a bigger battery.

The link for that sport trac for sale is pretty sweet. It's a bit out of my range though, price and distance.

Do you have the link or info on what's done to the St you're looking at buying?

If a truck has a hitch, lift and bigger tires they like to sya things like it has a tow package, etc.. to jack up the price but it's all b.s..

Not a bad looking Trac but it has three different types of tires on it, WTH, I'd have them put on a set of four matching if they really wanted to sell it for that price. JMHO. 130k miles, it'll need new balljoints, uppers and lowers, shocks and swaybar end links if they haven't been replaced already, just a heads up. Also have it professionally checked to make sure the timing tensioners aren't going bad on it.

They've had it for sale for about 6 months, maybe longer at the same price. The first time i found it i thought the drivers side of the interrior was a bit dirty and i would guess in person it's worse. and the ones with grey bumpers and lower trim that i've seen useally look pretty faded. As a plus for it, it's tied with one other sport trac, which i should've bought, for the lowest priced '03-'05 4x4 sport trac anywhere in my area. and it's my number one choice in color, only i'd rather have one that's all blue without the grey at the bottom. I probably won't even go look at this one untill they lower it another $1000

it will look alot better once you bought it if you just paint the cladding black. Not a hard job at all.
