First of all, I don't mean to post this to piss people off or put anyone down or anything.

I just don't get why you would turn you X into a street car. What's the point? Lowering it, putting on small tires, so if you hit a speed bump you scrape everything under your car. Granted some of the pics I have seen look really good, but what is the point? You can drive through town with a lowered X, yea, or you can drive through town with one built for off-roading. I see too many people lowering cars that just should not be lowered. The other day I saw a F250, a F250!!, probably an inch of the ground. I just don't get it. Oh well.

to each his or her own.....

yea its weird who does what to what,

here in my town at a local car dealer is a Che*y Dually that is lowered, i mean like 5 inches from the ground.....
the question for that is, why , why lower a dually...but it does look very bad a$$ for a chevy

like jim said, to each their own

I guess. I just don't get the purpose of it. People can do what they want.:)

exactly.... people can do whatever they want... that is what makes this country so great.... at least we dont have to drive around shoeboxes that are all the same like several other countries.... the streeters will come back with, why lift it? it is just easier to roll!......same stuff..... to each his or her own.... whatever floats your boat......

i like lifted and lowered vehicles both. however, i don't see how you can't see any benefit to lowering a car. first of all i don't go offroad more than going to trailheads from which i ride my mountain bike, hike, or paddle into the wilderness, but that doesn't make me unique, in fact very few of the coolest lifted trucks here on this site or anywhere else actually spend even a tenth of their time off of the road. so i ask, whats the point of maximizing you performance for a small part of your time behind the wheel instead of for the majority of the time??? a moderately (emphasis on moderately) lowered vehicle exibits improved handling, ride quality (if you are like me and like to feel the road(, and braking.

and finally the best support i can think of are the typhoon, syclone, lightning, and pvo ram. when the factory lowers their high performance trucks there's probably a reason...

Don't get bent out of shape about a lowered F-250. My mom's friend just bought a Peterbuilt with a factory custom drop chassis. Yes, that's right. Keep your eyes out for a semi driving on the highway an inch and a half off the ground

I agree with Expo 5.0

If built right, lowered trucks can handler much better than trucks at stock height. They will also get better gas mileage.

Well... there are cases that people have 2wd. They can't go off-road for a fact. So, in all, their car is street-like.

I can see lowering a two wheel drive X for looks, but lowering a 4 wheel drive, would not make 4 wheeling enjoyable.

I'm building my X for four wheeling 'cause I like the sport and all the other things I can do at the far end of the trail. But the X's popularity is based on it's ability to do many things well. The original '65 Mustang sold millions (like the X) because it was versatile. You could get numerous body styles with tons of different options. You could build it the way you wanted it and that was appealing to 'the American spirit." That's the same appeal the X posesses.. It's a competent grocery getter in stock trim. It's a competent wheeler with 4wd and a good axle ratio even with off the showroom floor components. With larger rims and sporty tires it can be a boulevard cruiser or racer, with the V8 of course. It's many thing to many people. And that my friends is also why this site kicks ASS!!

i don't think people would lower their 4x4!?

Yesterday I went to bestbuy and saw a blue compact pickup that was sitting with its body either on the ground or real close to it. And it had a custom tonneau cover that covered maybe 3/4ths of the bed and then the other 1/4th of the bed was a compartment that had a big bottle in it. So I'm guessing that is hydros?

 that, i gotta see:)

can you take a picture of it...

I do not like lowered anything. Truck, cars, or motorcycles. However, I also don't like trucks jacked more than about 4 inches from stock either. I am an equal opportunity dis-liker.:D

all wheel drive sure is nice in a street vehicle though. just ask porsche...

There was a guy at my high school that had a 4x4 blazer w/fat tires and everything. The next year when school started, I saw the same blazer with like 13" rims and about 1" off the ground. He had to remove the front drive shaft to lower it. I don't know why anyone would lower a 4x4, but I like a lot of the lowered cars I see out there (except the mini vans). I even like some of the ricers as long as they are what they pretend to be (not just a bunch of extra plastic). I think we should be grateful to live in this free country. In many other countries it is illegal to do any mods to your car.

i would have to go with expo 5.0, i have gone off road 3 times and honestly I dont find it real fun, and really i rather have my car looking nice and not have it marked up from the trail. really your on the road a lot more then off so why raise it 4 inches? so you can flip over on a turn that my truck (when its lowered two inches) could just handle it like a sedan or compact car? and really ahhjaws if you didnt mean to piss anyone off why would you post it? i ask almost everytime i see a lifted truck, Why? but you dont hear me venting over that on a board that explorer people are suppose to come together and not fight about stupid crap like this. (my bad if something doesnt make sense in here... i get alittle complexed when I write something this long while im doing something else.)

i like lowering but, not to the ground.. like the lowest i would go is like naplesbill's ride for my car 4 and 3 inches. no speed bump hitting there, really im not a fan of the people that have their ride on the ground either, but lowering it 2-4 inches is nothing and makes it handle better and look better.
