The IAC controls idle air, and over time gets a little gummed up(sticks). Simply R&R that and gently cleaning it with brake or carb cleaner often improves the idle. Don't spray a lot inside the end where the solenoid is, that has a rubber diaphragm in it.

Use the search feature to find many well documented write ups on how to clean your IAC Valve.
The area you clean is basically where the black plastic disc seats - it's between the air flow inlet/outlet area.
Carbon builds up inside the valve body and that causes the black plastic disc to not properly seat.
Also, the vent filter clogs with find dust and eventually needs to be opened up and cleaned.
